LB291 – A Trojan Horse for Marxist Indoctrination

Saturday, March 4, 2023

Dear Editor,

The terms “Diversity,” “Equity,” and “Inclusion” are subjective, open to individual interpretation, and thus ripe for abuse – particularly when the outcome is the promotion and advancement of a political agenda. These terms are components of Marxist Critical Theory, and for that reason alone LB291 should be opposed.

What is “Equity?” In Law, equity implies “fairness.” However, its usage in the context of “DEI Training” is something altogether different. Equity in this sense is neither “equality” nor fairness; but a device by which to force identical outcomes without regard for individual temperament, ability, or resources. It is coercion to impose a subjectively determined result, as defined by an external central authority. To phrase the practice in a familiar ideological form, equity is “From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs” – a slogan popularized in 1875 by Karl Marx. Therefore, as used in DEI Training, “equity” proposes not equality of opportunity, but uniformity of outcome, which is the central principle of Marxism.

What is meant by “Inclusion?” In this context, “inclusion” is a device by which to forcibly expel objective reality from the socio-political and cultural spheres. It is a tool to eradicate truth, to pervert reason, and to strip the people of their freedom of association. It proposes to eliminate discrimination; but, in all human endeavors, we are required to discern – to “discriminate” – between that which is, and that which is not, beneficial to accomplishing a task or achieving a goal. Counterintuitively, “inclusion,” as used in DEI Training, promotes the opposite of what it implies, being a form of censorship by which to remove the individual right to discern that which best serves his or her interests.

What is meant by “Diversity?” Like “inclusion,” this too attacks freedom of association, but is more directed at destroying organizational morale and eliminating any system that values and measures individual proficiency. “Diversity,” in this sense, undermines evaluation of an individual’s attitude and aptitude through established standards of objective criteria. It substitutes a system of quotas in place of merit – where individuals advance in their fields through demonstratable proficiency in pre-defined skills. “Diversity” in this context subverts professionalism and destroys free agency by criminalizing the employer’s right to choose the people best suited to perform the requisite tasks and accomplish the goals of the business. Thus the “diversity” implemented through DEI Training is designed to promote and protect mediocrity.

In summation, “DEI Training” is a tool of intimidation – imposed by a central power – to control thought, opinion, and action. Its purpose is to eliminate discernment, and to silence and punish dissent. It is authoritarianism: you shall think the same and hold the same opinions, as determined by government, less you, the individual, be “cancelled” from society. DEI Training is a Trojan Horse for Marxist indoctrination. For these reasons LB291 must be rejected by the Nebraska Legislature.
