CAMBRIDGE, Neb. — It was their closest call so far, but Maywood-Hayes Center’s boys won 47-44 over Dundy County-Stratton in the Cambridge Holiday Tournament Friday.

The Wolves trailed 38-37 through three quarters before reaching 10-0 on junior Jeremiah Ingison’s 14 points.

Seniors Hayden Kramer and Kyler Cox scored eight apiece with another seven from Jhett Sellers.

Freshman Lane Bybee stepped up to score 10 points which matched senior Corbin Horner for the DCS Tigers’ team leadership.

Junior Jackson Kerchal powered to another eight. The Tigers (7-2) still suffered only their second loss this season with that other a 52-42 Cattle Trail final against M-HC.

Meanwhile, those mighty Maywood-Hayes Center girls also are 10-0 following Friday’s 63-32 win over host Cambridge.

Senior Ashlin Broz’s 15 points helped the Wolves take a 20-7 lead through just one quarter.

Classmate Olivia Hansen chipped in 14 and freshman Karissa Stengel 11.

Senior Kiley Hejtmanek scored eight while Alexis Wood and sophomore Kesli Cox netted six points apiece. The Wolves were coming off a 60-16 win over Crawford Thursday evening.

Broz buried all three of her shots from long distance.

No individual stats were obtained about the 5-5 Cambridge girls. They delivered a big 50-30 win over Dundy County-Stratton Thursday to reach the tourney title game.
