James L. Teeters, Sr.

YUMA, Ariz. — James L. Teeters, Sr. (Jim) passed away on Dec. 14, 2022, at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Va.

Jim was born to Francis and Patricia Marie Teeters on July 8, 1939, in Trenton, Neb. Jim graduated from Culbertson, Neb., high school in 1958 and married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Binderup. They celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in August of 2022.

Jim is survived by his wife; daughter, Jamey Lovin of Richmond, Va., and son, James Eason (Randy) of Norfolk, Va. He is also survived by his beloved grandsons, Isaac and Jacob Lovin of Norfolk and sister, Sally Canion (Ken) of Friendswood, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Arda Krepcik, Ida Mae Ekberg, Marvin Teeters, and Frances Saska; and son-in-law, James W. Lovin, Jr.

Jim retired from the US Navy after serving for 21 years in the Aviation Community as an ATC.

In 2004, Jim and Shirley chose Yuma as their permanent retirement home, where they could enjoy life in a much warmer climate and where Jim could pursue his number one hobby, fishing.

Celebration of Jim’s life will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church Yuma, Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, or ASPCA.
