SV-A softball Saints plate 35 runs in sweep of Chase

IMPERIAL, Neb. — The base paths were crowded today for both offenses in a high-scoring game where Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity came out on top against Chase County, 18-6.

Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity opened up scoring in the first inning with two runs when Josa Dunse doubled.

Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity scored seven runs in the fourth inning. Big bats in the inning were led by an error on a ball put in play by Izzy Dubbs, Dunse, and Brianna Jorgenson, singles by Natasha Hock and Sarah Holste, and a groundout by Alex Meyers.

Brynn Baily was the winning pitcher for Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity. The pitcher lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing zero hits and three runs while striking out three.

Southern Valley/Alma Saints racked up ten hits in the game. Hock and Holste each had multiple hits for Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity. Holste and Hock each collected two hits to lead SV-A.

Saints 17, Chase 3

Southern Valley/Alm’s two pitchers didn’t allow a single hit, as Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity defeated Chase County 17-3 on Thursday. B

Baily led Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity to victory by driving in four runs. Baily went 3-for-4 at the plate. Baily drove in runs on a double in the second and a home run in the fourth.

Southern Valley/Alma Saints Varsity took the lead for good with eight runs in the second inning. In the second Baily doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, Natasha Hock singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, Natalee Holste singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Brianna Jorgenson singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs, and Izzy Dubbs doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Baily led in the pitcher’s circle.

The righthander allowed zero hits and zero runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out seven.

SV-A Saints improved to 4-7 on the season.
