CULBERTSON, Neb — Mr. Delbert Ridenour, age 67, of Culbertson, passed away at his home in Culbertson on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2022.

Delbert was born March 27, 1955, in Cabool, Mo., to parents, John and Eloise (Blagdon) Ridenour. He attended Cabool High School and grew up in the area until moving to Texas in his 20s.

In 1982, Delbert married Nancy (Smotherman) Ridenour in Odessa, Texas. Together they moved to Nebraska in the late 1980s to raise their children: Bryan, John, Justin, Alicia, and Twila.

Delbert was a truck driver and shop manager/mechanic in his lifetime. In the early 2000s, he raced little pickups, and Delbert’s racing name was Silver Bullet. He may not have won every race, but he always came out with a smile on his face. Delbert was a member of Trenton Golf Club, found comfort in fishing, and enjoyed having a beer or moonshine with his friends and family.

Delbert is survived by his wife, Nancy (Smotherman) Ridenour; his children, Bryan Smotherman of Culbertson, Neb., John (Candy) Madera of Beatrice, Neb., Justin Bright of Culbertson, Neb., Twila (Mike) MacFarland of LaPine, Ore., and Alicia (James) Hegwood; brothers-in-law, Eddie Smotherman of Pueblo, Colo., and Robert Smotherman (Janice) of Tularosa, N.M.; sister, Velora (Ted) Zapp of Culbertson; and special niece, Heather (Kenny) Adams of Palisade, Neb. Delbert had 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Delbert also leaves behind many, many, close friends who he considered family.

Preceded in death are his parents and his in-laws.

A Celebration of Life will take place in the fall and times will be announced at a later date.
