Burn ban lifted, open burn permit still required

McCOOK, Neb. — A general burn ban for McCook residents was lifted effective Friday, but a permit is still required for open burning, according to McCook Fire Chief Marc Harpham.

Burn permits must be obtained prior to any open burning, and can be acquired by contacting the McCook Fire Department at 345-5710. There is no charge for the permit.

Burn permits will not be issued under the following conditions:

• Fire Weather Watch

• Fire Weather Warning

• Wind Advisory/High Wind Watch/High Wind Warning

• Red Flag Warning
