Irish golfers outplay 13 other teams at Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE, Neb. — Fresh off their first state basketball title in 94 years, North Platte St. Patrick’s captured first place again at the 14-team Cambridge Golf Invitational on Tuesday.

Connor Hasenauer set the tone with 37 on his first holes, and a total round of 76 took home that individual title.

Grant McQuay fired 78 for Alma, but the Cardinals only shared fifth place overall with Arapahoe’s Warriors.

Arapahoe leader Haidan Van Houtan fired a super consistent 4-4-4-4-4 on five of his final six holes to finish 12th at 92.

Senior Grant Taylor wasn’t far off Van Houtan’s pace while carding 98.

Senior Nolan Burrell shot 93 for Dundy County-Stratton, which was ranked No. 2 behind only NPSP during the basketball regular season.

Burrell placed 13th overall and the Tigers shared fifth at 418.

Hitchcock County (457) earned 1oth among 14 team scores. Maywood-Hayes Center scored 464 and Medicine Valley finished at 482.

Host Cambridge and Southwest did not register team scores.

Trojan Dylan Downer and Roughrider Gage Overton both totaled 109s to lead their teams.

PAXTON, Neb. — Wallace golfer Tyler Lundvall earned 13th place with his 116 at Tuesday’s Paxton Golf Invitational.

Host Tigers Jacob Holzfaster (91) and Ethan Hardin (94) placed 1-2 overall. No team scores were obtained.
