Falcons win two; Trojans split and Warriors fall

GRANT, Neb. — The Hitchcock County volleyball team won a Perkins County Triangular Tuesday evening.

First, the Falcons (5-3 record) shook off a 25-20 defeat and beat Wallace 25-21, 25-23.

Seniors Aimee Merrill (12) and Lindsey Rippen (eight) teamed for an awesome 20 kills.

Seniors Riley Bortner and Kailee Kolbet both served two aces.

Rippen added 18 assists and 12 digs.

The Falcons overcame nine kills from Wallace junior Karlie Finley.

Fleming also served three aces which matched sophomore teammate Kendyl Flaming.

Hitchcock then swept Perkins 25-20, 25-23 behind Rippen’s nine ace serves.

Trojans split at N.P.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — Cambridge swept Dundy County-Stratton 25-9, 25-11 Tuesday night but lost a thre-set match to North Platte St. Patrick’s.

Senior Autumn Deterding’s six kills and three ace serves from classmate Carsyn Hanes powered the 5-2 Trojans’ win.

Sophomore Jalen Kent clobbered 12 kills against the Irish (5-4), who scored 25-16 wins around a 25-23 Cambridge victory.

Freshman Erin Johnson added seven kills.

ARAPAHOE, Neb. — Sophomore Naomi Gutierrez stuffed five blocks for Arapahoe, but Loomis rallied to win 18-25, 25-15, 25-20 Tuesday evening.

Gutierrez totaled nine blocks overall.

Junior Emerson Swanson’s five kills and four assists were other highlights though the Warriors slipped to 1-5 this season.

Arapahoe dropped a 25-15, 25-12 decision to Maywood-Hayes Center in Tuesday’s other home triangular match.

Sophomore Berkley Warner made nine hustling digs with seven each from Swanson and senior Hope Koller. Gutierrez delivered two more stuff blocks. Freshman Riley Bahe and junior Hilary Downer had two kills each.
