Monthly building tops $600K

McCOOK, Neb. — Commercial building and remodeling was the primary push behind new construction in July.

The City of McCook Permit report recorded a total of $653,201 in new construction in July inside city limits and $45,416 outside city limits. Since January, $6.5 million of new construction has been reported for inside and outside city limits.

New building included (all inside city limits unless noted):

-- New commercial building, $8,000

-- Two commercial remodels, $474,000

-- Five residential remodels, $51,605

-- Three demolitions (other than homes), one inside city limits at $31,780, two outside city limits totaling $3,616

-- Garage, outside city limits, $19,000

-- New sign, $2,000

-- Carport, $3,139

-- Eleven roofing/deck jobs totaling $65,076; one outside city limits at $2,800

-- Four fences at $6,300

-- Permit, no charge, $300

-- Sewer tap, $1,000

-- Two plumbing, one inside city limits at $10,000 and one outside, $20,000

Total amount of fees the city has collected year-to-date is $16,634, with $2,136 collected this month.
