McCOOK, Neb. — Thelma Jean Long was born June 24, 1938, in Imperial, Neb., to Arthur Avery and Lois Iola (Clements) Siefken. Thelma grew up in Imperial and graduated from Chase County High School in 1956.

On March 12, 1955, Thelma married Irvin Dale Long in Benkelman, Neb. The couple first settled in Wauneta, Neb., and then relocated to Lincoln, Neb., where Irvin was employed in construction and Thelma worked in several factories including Russell Stover Candies and Lester’s Electrical Company.

Thelma enjoyed cross stitching, camping, fishing, bowling and collecting cookie jars. She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Thelma passed away early Sunday morning, June 27, 2021, at her home surrounded by family, near McCook. She was 83 years of age.

Irvin passed away from a long battle with heart disease on Friday morning, April 3, 2020, at his home in rural McCook. He was 84 years of age.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Irvin in 2020; daughter, Penny Ritchie; in-laws, Hazel and Hack Long; and grandson, Shawn Ritchie.

Irvin was preceded in death by his parents; daughter; Penny Ritchie; grandson, Shawn Ritchie; an infant sister; brothers, Marion and Bud Long; sister-in-law, Millie Long; brother-in-law, Jerry Siefken; and mother- and father-in-law; Art and Lois Siefken.

Survivors include daughters, Jean Thomas and husband, Fred of York, Neb., Jacqua (Jackie) Georges and husband, Randy of McCook, Jody French and husband, Duane of Sioux City, Iowa, and Terry Landolt and Mike Kahler of Sutton, Neb.; son, Bill Long and wife, Leann of Waco, Neb.; 20 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; several cousins and four nieces.

Graveside inurnment services for both Irvin and Thelma will be Saturday morning, July 24, 2021, 11 a.m. (MT), at Riverside Cemetery, Wauneta, Neb.
