CULBERTSON, Neb. — Myrna Albert, age 83, of Culbertson, passed away at Bryan Medical Center East in Lincoln on July 13, 2021.

Myrna was born on July 2, 1938, in Imperial, Neb., to Clarence and Roberta (Tuttle) Blobaum. She was raised in Wauneta, Neb., and graduated from Wauneta High School in 1956.  After high school, Myrna moved to Denver, Colo., where she attended modeling school and business college.  After business college, she worked for a brief time as a bookkeeper for Hormel Chevrolet in McCook, where she met Kenneth Albert.  She and Kenneth were married on Nov. 15, 1959, in Culbertson at the Methodist Church. The couple were married for over 60 years.  Kenneth preceded her in death on Jan. 30, 2020. 

Myrna was an exceptionally talented seamstress, sewing most of Kimberly’s wardrobe including her wedding dress. She sewed clothing for her two sons (shirts, suits, Halloween costumes) along with many fashionable outfits for Barbie and GI Joe dolls.  Myrna was an excellent cook, best known for her meatloaf, all the specialty cakes for birthdays, anniversaries, and kid’s events at school. Holidays were the festive times with many special cookies and cakes. She made many blue-ribbon winning recipes for the county fair.  Her freezer was always full of baked goods.  She took art and woodwork classes at MCC.  She was especially known for all her hand-crafted greeting cards for birthdays, holidays, and special events which she would send to family and friends. Myrna traveled to all 50 of the United States both on family vacations and with Kenneth in their retirement years.  Later the couple cruised to the Caribbean, Aruba, Alaska as well as taking many Bus Tours and AAA Tours.  

Myrna was a member of the United Methodist Church in Culbertson. She served many years as the superintendent of the Sunday School as well as volunteering at the church food pantry and thrift store.  She enjoyed her garden, especially her orchids, lilies and other flowers. She liked attracting and feeding the birds with her many feeders throughout the yard. Myrna belonged to the Red Hatters, Extension Club, Pink Ladies, F.R.O.G.S., Library Book Club and volunteered for the Blood Drive. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Kenneth. 

Myrna is survived by her daughter, Kimberly and husband, Larry Lorenzen of Kansas City, Mo.; two sons, Kyle and wife, Paula Albert of West Bloomfield, Mich., and Korey and wife, Barbara Albert of Fort Collins, Colo.; five grandchildren, Brock Lorenzen, Grant Lorenzen, Grace Albert, Hope Albert, and Joy Albert. 

Visitation was at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook on Monday, July 19, 2021. Funeral Services were at United Methodist Church in Culbertson today, July 20, 2021, 10:30 a.m., with Pastor Alisa Parde officiating.  Interment will be in the Culbertson Cemetery.

Memorials may be left in Myrna’s name to the United Methodist Church of Culbertson, Culbertson Fire and Rescue and Culbertson Public Library.  Friends may leave online condolences at herrmannfh.com.
