They might appear to be running uphill in this photo, but it was really all downhill once East All-Stars took charge of Saturday's West Nebraska All-Star football game at Bearcat Stadium in Scottsbluff. Southern Valley quarterback Carter Bose, McCook fullback Alec Langan (34, left) and Wauneta-Palisade's Braxton McKinney (bottom) were among many Gazette-area players who helped power the big East win.

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. — The West was silenced once it was time to play some football against Gazette-area stars Saturday night.

Southern Valley's super duo of Carter Bose and Clayton Berry teamed for three touchdowns, while four McCook Bison helped East dominate throughout their 35-6 West Nebraska All-Star Game victory at Bearcat Stadium.

Bose and Berry showed the same explosive talent that led those S.V. Eagles to a state playoff spot last fall. They connected on a 19-yard touchdown pass just 19 seconds before halftime for the 14-6 East lead.

The Eagles were only warming up as Bose found Berry on a 70-yard TD strike barely 90 seconds following halftime.

Bose then broke loose for a 68-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter to clinch this East victory.

McCook alum Alec Langan enjoyed a good rushing day while Bison alums Mason Schmoker, Torrington Ford and Isaiah Weimers also contributed to this strong performance.

Cambridge Trojans Kyle Borland and Ethan Sides were also part of the winning effort along with Wauneta-Palisade's Braxton McKinney and Arapahoe's Keegan Benson.

Watch for more details in Tuesday's Gazette.
