Southern Valley leads area golfers at Cambridge invite

CAMBRIDGE, Neb. — Southern Valley senior Brody Yant shot 39 on his final nine holes to secure a top three golfing finish at Wednesday’s Cambridge Invitational.

Yant nearly caught North Platte’s Conner Hasenauer for second overall, but a 40 was enough to clinch Hasenauer’s 82 and runner-up finish behind teammate/champion Teegan Sonnerman.

The Irish rolled away with a team championship, 45 strokes lower than closest contender Overton.

Southern Valley earned fifth with 389 among 15 schools represented at this early-season tournament.

Dundy County-Stratton junior Nolan Burrell delivered the next best score among Gazette-area golfers of 94.

Burrell was just two strokes from the top 15 tournament medalists. Some more results:
