Keep mini-park a park

Friday, March 19, 2021

Dear Editor,

To the members of the City Council of McCook, Neb.; Concerning the property at Norris and B Street East.

The landscaping on both sides of Norris Avenue complement each other. It is a beautiful intersection softening the hard exteriors of brick and mortar.

This was given to the city by a generous citizen who recognized the space's possibilities to be used as a park. Those were his wishes and the city did not depart from those wishes. Let us keep faith which was bequeathed to the city. It is a pause for nature at the stoplights for a breath of awe.

The high school art club under the tutelage of art instructor Jim Steinke created the skyscape of McCook Public Schools (Yes, it does need to be repaired.)

Since this was donated for the minipark, let's not change that awesome mini Eden.

Perhaps another space is more suitable for the business requesting the changes.

Sincerely,

Norma Stevens,

McCook, Neb.

  • YES!!!!! The landscaping and artwork make it so much more inviting to the downtown area and shows off our love of our community. It's more inviting to residents but also visitors. Please keep it as is.
