Final roundup of area Class D state medalists

OMAHA, Neb. — Arapahoe’s three state medalists joined Southwest as top performers from Gazette-area schools at the Class D state wrestling meet.

Junior heayvweight Levi Kerner finished fourth (37-2 record) when he scored three consecutive pins before the first periods were finished.

Wyatt Jenkins (23-7) at 160and Tristian White (32-9) at 145 both captured sixth-place medals.

Jenkins reached the semifinals before ran into 44-1 Adam Kuester of Neligh-Oakdale and then ran into 50-match winner Levi Belina from Howells-Dodge.

White earned three wins including two first-period pins, including a 1:21 finish of Southern Valley rival Mason Noel (28-17) which moved him into the medal rounds.

Hitchcock County’s Keegan Shuler topped a strong contingent of five Falcons who made state.

Shuler (36-7 record) finished fifth and took the dramatic finale from Fullerton’s Brett Bridger at 182 pounds.

Shuler scored a takedown to win 4-2 and cap a state tourney where he won four matches overall.
