Arapahoe wrestlers win home tourney

ARAPAHOE, Neb. — Just about every area school delivered a championship but the Arapahoe Warriors stood above eight teams at Saturday’s Warrior Wrestling Invitational.

Arapahoe prevailed behind a strong performance from champions Isaac Goshert (120 pounds) and Bryan Conn (126) and undefeated heavyweight Levi Kerner (30-0).

Jordan Smith also reached his title match at 170 while helping the Warrriors outscore closest challenger Southern Valley by nearly 40 points.

Decatur Community (Kan.) delivered a strong three team showing with sophomore Josh Juenemann winning 106 and senior Gavon Uehlin champ at 182.

Uehlin took his title thanks to a well-earned 15-4 over talented Keegan Shuler from Hitchcock County (28-5).

Bobby Evans and Julian Grindle captured championships for the Cambridge Trojans.

106 pounds — Josh Juenemann, DC (23-5 record) won the championship. The sophomore pinned J. Klotz, H-L, in 1:16; won 15-0 over N. Plagmann, S-E-M; and pinned B. Hammond, SV, in 2:41. 2. Braxton Hammond, SV (18-13). Best win? He pinned Plagmann in 1:32. 3. Corbin Carpenter, ARAP. Best win? He pinned Klotz in 1:47.

113 — Blake Devitt, HC (21-6) placed third. The sophomore pinned W. Lee, ARAP, in 2:12.

120 — Isaac Goshert, ARAP (22-2) won the championship. The senior won 6-1 over finalist L. Zodrow, DC. 2. Lucas Zodrow, DC (17-14). 3. Kaleb Christofferson, HC (25-8) pinned W. Brell, H-L, in :49 for third.

126 — Bryan Conn, ARAP (9-3) won the championship. The junior won 18-2 over M. Morgan, CAMP; won 7-1 over G. Losey, HC. 2. Gavin Losey, HC (17-12) pinned M. Morgan, CAM, in :21. 3. Matt Morgan, CAM.

132 — Cole Broeker, SV (24-11) won the championship. The sophomore won 10-4 over R. Hill, ARAP. 2. Rafe Hill, ARAP (20-15).

138 — Reece Grafel, DC (24-5), won the championship. The junior pinned A. Downey, HC, in 1:45. 2. Ashton Downey, ARAP (26-14).

145 — Alex Eskew, DC (13-9) placed second. The senior was pinned by finalist X. Perez, EC, in 1:52. 3. Tristan White, ARAP (24-5) won 6-3 over Mason Noel, SV (21-12).

152 — Trevor Brown, SV (25-10) won the championship. The junior pinned T. Stanton, CAM, in 1:17. 2. Tye Stanton, CAM. 3. Jacob Corbett, CAM (4-4) won 7-5 over M. Serrano, EC.

160 — Shane Sieja, SV , placed second. He won 16-7 over G. Huntley, CAM; pinned E. Niemeier, H-L, in 1:15; was pinned by T. Quintana, EC, in 1:36. 3. Gabe Huntley, CAM.

170 — Jordan Smith, ARAP (31-10) placed second. He lost 17-2 to finalist C. Schutz, H-L (22-0).

182 — Gavon Uehlin, DC (25-3) won the championship. The senior won 9-1 over C. Pawloski, PLEA; and 15-4 over K. Shuler, HC. 2. Keegan Shuler, HC (28-5). He won 11-5 over Pawloski.

195 — Bobby Evans, CAM (36-7) won the championship. He won 10-2 over B. Warner, SV. 2. Bryson Warner, SV (18-11).

220 — Julian Grindle, CAM (32-14) won the championship. He won 5-4 final over S. Snow, H-L.

285 — Levi Kerner, ARAP (30-0) won the championship. The junior pinned J. Pugh, PLEA (19-12), in 1:26.
