McCook girls grind through Dusters, 34-26

HOLDREGE, Neb. — McCook shook off an 8-1 start and put a lid on Holdrege’s basket during the Bison girls’ 34-26 victory Saturday evening.

Junior Peyton Doucet drilled a three from each side of the basket to ignite McCook’s comeback.

The Bison (3-4 record) took charge even though leading scorer Shawna Wilkinson and junior Sierra Kotschwar both battled first-half trouble.

Junior Emma Dutton stepped in to score two huge baskets while helping build a 20-16 halftime advantage.

McCook then blanked Holdrege (3-3) through the entire third period.

Wilkinson also returned to score all six of her points after halftime which sealed this workman-like win.

McCook held Holdrge and Cozad to a combined 60 points last week.

The Bison beat Cozad, 60-34, Tuesday night.
