Bison diamond girls blast past Whippets

MINDEN, Neb. — McCook’s lineup was crushing from top to bottom throughout an 11-1 varsity softball win over the Minden Whippets Tuesday evening.

The Bison (9-20 record) regained some great momentum following a rough stretch of games against top foes last week.

On Tuesday, senior Emma Kehler was dealing with six strong innings — not permitting a single earned run to that home home.

Kehler permitted only two hits and struck out three without allowing a single walk. She’s been consistently firing strikes all season as the Bison No. 1 ace.

There was plenty of offensive support as McCook plated seven runs through the first two frames.

Carly Peters continued her surge by ripping a single, double, scorign two runs and driving in two more.

Junior Graci Nelson nailed a triple with more hits coming from Kehler, Tesa Nelson and Kennedy Walter.

McCook also showed some great patience as they drew eight walks from Minden’s pitcher.

Ashley Miller, Jada Berry and Peters drove home two runs each.

Miller also scored twice. Courtesy runner Izzy Renner dashed across home plate three times.

The Bison further enjoyed help courtesy of seven Minden fielding miscues.
