McCook High School cancels homecoming dance

McCOOK, Neb. -- McCook High School has canceled the homecoming dance.

Principal Jeff Gross issued the following statement this morning:

"In an effort to keep our students in the classroom and minimize the risk of being exposed or quarantined to COVID-19 we will not be having the 2020 McCook High School Homecoming dance. While we understand that this is a disappointment, we have to make tough decisions that are in the best interest of our students and community. We have researched and worked with our local health department concerning this manner. When conditions warrant we will revisit our ability to have a school dance in the future.

"We will still be offering a slate of safe homecoming activities including traditional King and Queen coronation at the conclusion of the football game on October 16th."
