Mildred “Millie” Marie Becker

July 10, 1932 – July 3, 2020

LINCOLN, Neb. — Mildred Marie Becker (Johnson/Gilliland), wife of Clifford Becker, went to her heavenly home on July 3, 2020. Millie was loved by many for her big heart and willingness to care for everyone she met. She was a savvy businesswoman. Millie was the mother of four, two step-daughters and many other children of her heart.

Millie was born at Stockville, Neb., on July 10, 1932, and passed on in Lincoln, Neb. Millie’s children from her first marriage were Doug, Jeanne, Duane and Judy. She was preceded in death by Jeanne and Duane. Her stepdaughters, Cliff’s children, were Pam and Janette. They were preceded in death by Pam.

She is survived by her children, Doug and Judy and stepdaughter, Jan; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Viewing was July 6 at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 South 14th St., Lincoln, Neb. Services were Tuesday, July 7 at 2 p.m. at Lincoln Memorial.

Millie was “Stubborn Johnson” to many, and she would proudly announce that to anyone. She could work harder and longer than anyone around her, and did so until she finally retired at 84. Millie was successful working in real estate, and in 1960 she made her first wedding cake, a passion that she would follow for more than 55 years. Beginning with a small cake, veil and craft store, she later spread her wings and opened The Falls, her signature wedding destination and event hall in Lincoln. Over the years, Millie was a vital part of the weddings of many young couples, and continued with those of their children.

Millie considered everyone family. She was married to Gerald Gilliland for 23 years, and they had four children -- Doug, Jeanne, Duane and Judy. She married the love of her life, Clifford Becker, in 1978, gaining two more daughters, Pam and Jan. During 41 happy years of marriage, Millie and Cliff enjoyed attending church and hosting family get-togethers. They shared business adventures and travel together. Retirement came late in life for Millie and Cliff, because Millie always had at least one more great business idea!

Pallbearers at the funeral were Rocky Quick, Derek Quick, Cody Gilliland, Brian Albrecht, Bryan Gilliland and Eric Severson.
