MNB Seniors set to debut at home today

Friday, June 19, 2020

McCOOK, Neb. — Not much about 2020 compares to previous Legion baseball years, but at least the McCook National Bank Seniors bring a familiar look into today’s season opener.

Several top players return from last year’s champion team which also scored a Class B state victory.

There will be no post-season tourneys this summer thanks to COVID-19 concerns.

However, MNB will certainly be pursuing another high victory total starting against Elwood-Eustis today.

First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 5 p.m.

Leading “lefty” pitcher Konor Rakes returns for MNB along with right-handed hurlers Jordan Chuancy, James Mockry and Brandon Derauf.

Catcher Dawson Bredvick returns to help all these McCook hurlers stay on target.

Center fielder/leading hitter Cam Berry will patrol the Merv Breland dimensions again much to every MNB pitcher’s delight.

“We know if one is hit out there, Cam will catch it,” Rakes and Chauncy agreed during an interview with the Gazette this spring.

First baseman/pitcher Logan Barenberg also returns along with versatile igniter Coady Armstrong.

First Central Bank top players Joey Gonzales, Tanner Jacobs and Colton Stevens all move up to the MNB Seniors this summer.

Elwood-Eustis begins what should be about a 25-game MNB schedule going to late July.
