Survey shows still some tension in local air

McCOOK, Neb. — Latest check of the mccookgazette.com survey question show opinions have changed since two weeks ago.

Society tensions are now considered a greater danger than coronavirus according to nearly 67 percent who have responded since June 5.

A few responders are still uncertain, but there was no doubt about one witnessed during the return of baseball and softball action in McCook Thursday night with this answer:

“With the first games, kudos to the board at Felling Field - checking names and fans were seated properly, players were in the bleachers!,” this response said. “ The Jayees Complex - baseball fans were outside of the park - NOT six feet apart. Softball - fans removed the tape and sitting in the bleachers - only one fan outside of the park. Shame on them - those are the ones that will ruin it for everyone. Adults should know better.”

Remember, this just an opportunity for fans to express and not necessarily agree with Gazette sports reporter observations.

As far as attending local games, it’s nearly a 50-50 split among responders during these past two weeks.

Of course, most youth contests are currently limited to just family household members attending. Phase three of governor Pete Rickett’s health directives will lessen the restrications starting Monday.

Fans strongly support attending their favorite sports — ranging from NASCAR to boxing to Nebraska football.

In fact, better than 70 percent said they would still attend those contests with a few uncertain.

The sports survey questions continue to appear on mccookgazette.com where fans can unanimously offer their opinions.

Watch for updates on the latest results and other details in upcoming editions of the Gazette.
