Health care partners get update, plan strategy

Thursday, March 19, 2020

McCook, Neb. —Healthcare partners from the area met at Community Hospital on Friday to discuss COVID-19 preparations, planning, messaging and resource ideas. Individuals were present from area nursing homes, the health department, EMS, assisted living facilities, clinic, hospital, a local durable medical provider and a pharmacy.

The group was brought up to date on the current situation from the Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department. Individuals shared helpful websites and resources, and discussed supplies and processes.

Attendees felt the collaborative meeting was helpful to share accurate messaging and gain a “shared mental model” of what others were anticipating and planning.

Three important messages remain for the public:

Call before coming to any medical facility to seek treatment if you are exhibiting these symptoms: A fever of 100.4 degrees or higher, shortness of breath, or a cough.

Go to the CDC website for accurate information: www.cdc.gov

If you are sick – stay home!

If you have questions about COVID-19 and your health, call Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department at 308-345-4223, DHHS COVID-19 Information Line 402-552-6645, or go to www.cdc.gov.
