Southwest Nebraska Leadership session focuses on government

McCOOK, Neb. -- Members of the 2019-20 Southwest Nebraska Leadership Institute focused on the theme of Government as they met March 11 to continue the Institute’s year-long training.

Andy Long, Executive Director McCook Economic Development, provided an hour-long leadership training at McCook Community College before the group began its day of touring. A continental breakfast was provided by the Fraternal Order of Police.

The group began the day with a tour of the Work Ethic Camp and discussion with WEC staff. They met at the Red Willow County courthouse for a discussion with Red Willow County Commissioner Earl McNutt and Red Willow County Attorney Paul Wood. Lunch was provided by Pizza Hut, followed by a panel discussion with Judge of the District Court, Honorable David Urbom, and Judge of the County Court, Honorable Anne Paine. The leadership class closed the day with a demonstration with McCook Police of the MILO System,

This year’s members include: Colette Balderston, Seth Bates, Dawson Bredvick, Candace Colemen, Candy Crosby, Drew Daum, Mollie Fanning, Sandra Gray, Mark Griffin, Molly Herzberg, Kevin Hodgson, Kortney Huxoll, Brolin Morgan, Steven Tucker, Shayne Vaught, Marie Wilkinson and Tim Zehnder.

The mission of the Southwest Nebraska Leadership Institute is to develop effective leaders from every section of our area who desire to strengthen and contribute to the high quality of life in Southwest Nebraska.
