McCOOK, Neb. — The McCook Community College baseball team has named Kregg Snook as its new assistant baseball coach.

He joins the baseball staff this spring having spent the fall of 2019 at Arizona Western College where he was responsible for coaching the catchers, assisting the pitching staff, strength and conditioning, and also coaching third base.

“We are very fortunate to have coach Snook as part of our staff, in the short time I have gotten to know him I have been very impressed, he has a great baseball IQ, and knows the game,” MCC Athletic Director and baseball caoch Jon Olsen.

Prior to his time at Arizona Western Snook spent one year at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas (NCAA DIII), where he also coached the catchers.

At Hardin-Simmons, catcher Brett Hudspeth was selected second-team All-Conference, and third-team All-Region.

Snook spent a season as an assistant at Ranger College (Texas), and four years at Arkansas Monticello (UAM) both as a player and as an assistant coach.

Upon his arrival in 2014, the UAM baseball team set a school record for wins and went to its first NCAA regional in school history.

Snook, a Houston, Texas native, has spent the last two summers in Martinsville, Virginia in the prestigious Coastal Plain League.

In 2018, as the Mustangs pitching coach, Snook helped guide starting pitcher Addison Domingo to a league-low 1.59 E.R.A. and first-team All-CPL selection.

In 2019, Snook served as the head coach in Martinsville. He produced three CPL all-stars, as well as one CPL Select Team member.

Three pitchers off the 2018 squad signed professional contracts in the summer of 2019: Greg Leban, Atlanta Braves; Gavin Weyman, Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers; and Ryan Evans, New Jersey Jackals.

“Coach will do a great job with our pitchers and leading our recruiting efforts, I have already seen that,” Olsen said. “Snook is also a very well-rounded baseball coach and can help out with all aspects of the game.”

“He will be a great fit not only for our baseball program but for McCook Community College,” the coach concluded.
