Dangerous Red Devils await Tigers on the Trail

McCOOK, Neb. — Unbeaten Decatur Community (Kan.) attacked outside early and powered inside to finish a 39-23 Cattle Trail win over Medicine Valley Tuesday evening.

Melody Koerperich, Alyssa Van Vleet and freshman Gabrielle Vontz were on fire with three-pointers during a 19-12 first half.

However, the Red Devils really broke away with senior Anna Carter controlling a 20-11 second half.

Carter’s 16 points will move Decatur into a 3:30 p.m. semifinal vs. 3-0 Dundy County-Stratton on Friday at the Graff Events Center.

Van Vleet added eight points, Kennedy Jensen four and Koeperich three. Amy Wentz tallied two points while Beynna Addleman added a free throw.

Juniors Acelyn Klein and Jessa Bailey scored seven apiece to pace the 1-2 Raiders. Senior Sabra Schmidt dropped in six points while Kaylyn Roblee and Milla Farr tallied two points each.

Med Valley will play a Friday 3:30 p.m. consolation semi against Arapahoe at McCook High School.
