CULBERTSON, Neb. - Helen Annette Hinz of Culbertson passed away Monday, July 29, 2019 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital. She was 51 years old.

Helen was born on November 16, 1967 at McCook, Neb. to parents, Alvin Charles and Melva May (Buzzell) Hinz. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Ash Creek in McCook. Helen graduated from Republican Valley High School in 1986 where she participated and enjoyed music including playing the flute. She continued her education at Kearney State College and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business.

Helen worked for Nebraska Public Power District for 25 years until her health would not permit her to work. She had a strong faith and was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church where she helped with meals for Wednesday night School of Religion. She loved to play the piano and sing. Her hobbies included collecting cookbooks and crosses, working word search puzzles, and music.

Helen’s mother, Melva, preceded her in death along with her grandparents and many other loved ones.

Survivors include her daughter, Shalene Hinz of McCook; grandson, Layton Hinz of the home; father, Alvin Hinz of McCook; sister, Janie and husband, Mark Hilker, of Cambridge; brother, Ricky A. Hinz of McCook; nephews and niece, Lance (Amanda) Hilker of Holbrook and their son, Huxley, Taran (Sadie) Hilker of Holdrege and Kallie Hilker of Kearney; numerous family and a host of friends.

Memorials may be given in her name.

Visitation will be Friday, August 2, 2019, at Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The family will be present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to greet friends.

Funeral service will be Saturday, August 3, 2019, 10:30 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Lonnie Felker officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s (Ash Creek), Cemetery, rural McCook.
