DENVER, Colo. — A super 65 opening round powered McCook High alum Noah Hofman to his top four finish in the U.S. Amatuer qualifying tournament last week.

Hofman’s 65 led the tourney through its opening round on July 1. He went on to shoot 74 during round two but still finished under par overall at 139.

The score earned him fourth place overall with top three advancing to a U.S. Amateur finals tournament at Pinehurst, N.C., next month.

Hofman is the first alternate if one of those top three would not play for some reason.

Meanwhile, the Class B two-state champ will continue playing through July. He’ll be part of the Nebraska Men’s Amatuer Tournament at Lincoln starting today and going through Thursday.
