Barnett, Baker led the area Super pickers

Monday, January 21, 2019

Confident Rams Bruce Baker and McCook radio voice Rich Barnett both proved again they know their football with 2-0 picks of Sunday’s NFL conference finals.

There was never a doubt as both the Los Angeles Rams and New Patriots scored on their first series in overtime to clinch Super Bowl spots.

Both Baker and Barnett projected Rams vs. Patriots in Friday’s Gaztte.

They also both like the Rams to avenge a Super Bowl loss 17 years ago which was the first of amazing Tom Brady/Bill Belichick’s five Super Bowl titles.

Super Bowl 53 takes place on Sunday, Feb. 4 in Atlanta.

Several other Gazette gurus went 1-1 on Sunday’s picks but only McCook’s Greg Larson and Diane Stamm of Wauneta Breeze fame have their champions still in the hunt.

Larson projected a Patriots victory over New Orleans; while Stamm took the Rams to edge Kansas City’s Chiefs.

True pigskin fan Christa Vrbas predicted a Rams victory but Chiefs’ ultimate championship as did lazy couch potato R.a.B. (Refs are Brutal) Headley.

Another four proven football fans went 0-2 with their picks: Bison head coach Jeff Gross, Gazette legend Gene O. Morris, Pigskin Pick ‘Em dominator Steve Towery and last year’s Super forecaster Seth Baumert all liked Chiefs vs. the Saints.
