David L. Fischer

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — David L. Fischer, 82, of North Platte, formerly of Maywood, Neb., passed away Jan. 9, 2019, at Great Plains Health.

He was born on a farm southwest of Curtis, Neb., on Oct. 5, 1936, to James and Leota “Ruth” (Kistler) Fischer.

David graduated from the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture in 1955. He was united in marriage to Delma L. Drinkwalter on May 9, 1959, at Oberlin, Kan. He owned and operated a farm and ranch south of Maywood and also operated his own terracing construction company. He enjoyed sports, the outdoors and gardening.

David is survived by his wife, Delma of North Platte; children, Charlene (Paul) Kolterman, Jerry (Cindy) Fischer and Dennis (Lisa) Fischer; nine grandchildren, Nicholas, Daniel, Marshall, Samuel, Emily, Anna, Kari, Christopher and Shaun; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucille Nutt; two sisters-in-law, Lois Fischer and Cathy Fischer; and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Leroy; grandson, Austin; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James (Lois) and Richard (Elaine); brother, Clyde; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lola (John) Ruppert and Barb (Bob) Easton; and a brother-in-law, Mack Nutt.

Graveside services will follow at 12:30 p.m.at Maywood Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, who is in care of arrangements.
