INDIANOLA, Neb. — Jane Marlene (Malleck) Bahl died on Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, at her home. She was 72 years old.

Jane was one of a set of twins born to James and Genevieve (Powers) Malleck on Jan. 28, 1946, in Indianola. She grew up in Indianola and graduated with the Class of 1964, where she met her husband of 53 years, Daniel Bahl. They were united in marriage on May 1, 1965. To this union three children, Christine, Brenda and Austin James, were born.

Jane was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church and Altar Society. She was a busy mother and homemaker and worked for Schaffert Manufacturing and Valley Irrigation. In her free time she enjoyed working word puzzles, cooking, and spending time with her English Setter, Murphy.

Preceding her in death were her parents, James and Genevieve Malleck; son, Austin James Bahl; brothers, Thomas Malleck and James Malleck; and twin sister, Judith Malleck.

Jane is survived by her loving husband, Daniel Bahl of Indianola; her children, Christine (Timothy) Wolff of Valley Center, Kan., and Brenda Schmidt of Nevada, Mo.; four grandchildren, Andrew, Jarod, and Tyler Schmidt and Savannah Wolff; her close knit siblings, Vonda Parrott of Lincoln, Dennis (Marilyn) Malleck of Ness City, Kan., Lonnie (Laura Jo) Malleck of Indianola, Phillip Malleck of Indianola, and Jeannine Reed of Lincoln. Jane also leaves behind the loving family of Thomas (Mildred) Bahl of Oak Point, Texas, Timothy (Laurie) Bahl of Gering, Neb., Phillip (Patricia) Bahl of Omaha and Roch (Vickie) Bahl of Lincoln. Many cherished relatives and friends will miss Jane.

Memorials may be given in her name.

Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018, at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook, from 3 to 6 p.m., followed by the rosary at 6:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, 10:30 a.m., at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Indianola with Father Greg Powloski officiating. Jane will be buried beside her son, Austin James, at St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Indianola.
