Bison tennis hits middle of pack

KEARNEY, Neb. — McCook’s JV tennis team tallied 31 points to place sixth among 10 squads competing in Kearney’s JV Invitational.
No. 1 doubles Joel Gray and Nick Wolvin won four of five matches for third place which led the Bison.
They swept matches over Kearney Catholic and Lexington. Their only loss was 9-7 vs. Class A Grand Island.
McCook’s No. 2 doubles of Paul Stoney and Davin Brunswick finished 3-2 for fifth place.
They scored wins over Grand Island, Kearney Catholic and Holdrege.
“Not our best performance,” coach Matt Wiemers commented. “There were a lot of tough teams there.”
No. 1 singles Brandan Eckhart won twice while No. 2 Jadon Karp captured one victory.
