McCOOK, Neb. — The McCook Community College men’s basketball team added its second 2018 recruit from Georgia with the addition of Mardrez McBride recently.

Indians Head Coach Brandon Lenhart announced the signing of McBride, a 6’2” combo Guard from Augusta, Ga., who played his prep basketball career for coach Cervantes Boddy at Butler High School.

McBride help lead the Bulldogs to their second straight Georgia Class AA state tournament as a senior.

He averaged 19 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal this past season, while earning South Class AA Georgia All State honors. McBride was selected to the Class AA Region 4 first Team and was the MVP for both basketball and football as a senior at Butler High School.

“Drez is the perfect example of hard work both on and off the court,” Boddy said.

McBride competed in the 2018 CSRA “Battle of the Boarder” All Star Classic for the Georgia East Team.

In two games versus the South Carolina All Stars, McBride averaged 27 points per game. He was voted Most Valuable Player for team Georgia.

Lenhart commented on the signing:

“Drez will bring energy and athleticism to our team next year. He is very versatile and can play all three guard positions. He sees the floor really well, can create for himself and others, as well as knock down the three consistently. Drez really gets after it on the defensive end and flat out, flies all over the floor; he will fit in well with how we want to play! On top of all that, his family background and the person he is will be great for our college and the community of McCook. We are extremely excited to add Drez to our MCC basketball family for next year!”
