FCB Juniors win just one of four

HASTINGS, Neb. — First Central Bank’s 8-5 opening win over B & C Steel from Gering opened what turned into a tough 1-3 weekend at the Hastings Tournament.

The Juniors (14-7 record) later dropped a 5-4 thriller to Omaha Creighton Prep JV #2, fell 17-0 against Hastings Braves and 10-5 vs. Hastings Runza.

Ty Stevens’ two hits and three RBIs fueled the one FCB victory.

Konor Rakes scored three times as he singled, walked and reached base on an error.

Coady Armstrong (two RBIs) and Joel Carter (one RBI) delivered two hits apiece. The Juniors held off B&C Steel despite stranding 13 baserunners.

Jordan Chauncy pitched a seven-inning complete game, permitting only three hits. Only two of the five B&C Steel Runs were earned.

Omaha 5, FCB 4

The Birds JV was down 4-3 in the top of the seventh inning when Joe Oberlies singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Rakes took the loss for McCook FCB Juniors. He went seven innings, allowing five runs on nine hits and striking out five.Alec Langan, Rakes, Jacobs, Ty Stevens, Logan Barenberg, Armstrongand Colton Stevens each managed one hit to lead McCook.

Braves 17, FCB 0

McCook FCB Juniors fell behind early and couldn’t rally.

A Joey Gonzales single in the second inning was a positive for McCook FCB Juniors.

Runza 10, FCB 5

McCook lost despite outhitting Hastings Runza 10-3.while striking out four.

Ty Stevens and Joel Carter all had multiple hits for theMcCook FCB Juniors.
