Trojan golfer makes it to state

KIMBALL, Neb. — Cambridge junior Preston Carbaugh will return to the Class C state tournament after placing seventh in Tuesday’s C-5 district golf meet.

Carbaugh shot 80 on the Four Winds Golf course for seventh overall. The top 10 individuals and three district teams all qualify for play at Kearney Country Club starting Monday.

Cambridge (436) finished ninth as a team and Southwest took seventh (430).

The top three C-4 teams advancing to state were Kimball (309), Perkins County (342) and Bridgeport (361).

Kimball junior Dillon Wise fired 73 on his home course for the individual title ahead of Bridgeport’s Eric Stevens (76). No other area individual scores wer e obtained.
