NORTON, Kan. — Norine Bailey, 91, of Norton, formerly of Jennings, Kan., died Tuesday (May 8, 2018) at the Andbe Home in Norton.

She was born Sept. 3, 1926, in Kanona, Kan., to George and Josephine (Klein) Fiala. She was raised in the Kanona and Oberlin communities, attended school in Kanona through the eighth grade and graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1944.

She was the co-editor of the Journal Advocate newspaper and manager of the Jennings Housing Authority.

She married Elwood Bailey on April 9, 1947, in Oberlin. They resided in the Jennings area most of their married life.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Altar Society in Leoville and Jennings Pride.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Josephine Fiala; and husband, Elwood Bailey.

Survivors include children, Charles Bailey of Newton and Deb Graham (David) of Norton; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is Friday, May 11, 2018, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin and after 6 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Leoville, with a vigil and rosary at 7 p.m.

Funeral services are Saturday, May 12, 2018, 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Leoville with Rev. Mark Berland officiating. Burial is at the Jennings Cemetery.
