Indians trail by one at tourney
LA JUNTA, Colo. – McCook Community College’s golf team is one shot away from the lead after the first day of the two-day Otero Junior College tournament. Only for strokes separate the top three teams.
Lamar leads the tournament after Thursday play with a 293, MCC is second with 294 and Eastern Wyoming is third with 297.
Sophomore Kaleb Wonderly (Benkelman) is tied for the individual lead with Lamar Community College’s Cesar Sinall. Both shot 35s on the front and back nine to lead the field with scores of 70s.
Lamar Community College’s Robert Heiny and Northeastern JC’s Bret Mattson are tied for third with 71s, and three golfers are tied for fourth including MCC’s Cameron Lampe (Windsor, Colo.), and Eastern Wyoming’s George Elliott and Gonzolo Arcelay Fernandez-Meras, at 72.
“It was great to see depth work out with everyone shooting in the 70s,” coach Tyler Loop said.
