Younger Bison prevail in season finale

Intensity was good throughout the McCook eighth-graders' basketball season finales against Cozad on Monday. The Bison won two of three games with their "B" team only losing 23-21.

McCOOK, Neb. — A trio of top scorers powered the McCook eighth graders to their 42-27 win over Cozad in Monday’s season finale.

Cole Cappel put 15 points through the home nets, Josh Hegwood added 13 and Brendan Gillen tallied 11 for the victorious “A” team.

The Bison “C” boys also prevailed 26-19 as they built an early 7-0 lead. McCook’s lone defeat was a 23-21 “B” contest where Cozad hit the tie-breaking shot with less than 20 seconds remaining.
