MCC continues homestand with matches Tuesday and Thursday

McCOOK, Neb. -- The McCook Community College volleyball team continues its five-game homestand with home contests against Northeastern Junior College, Colo., and Southeast Community College this week at the MCC Pete & Dolores Graff Events Center.

Scouting McCook Community College

The Lady Indians enter this week’s contests with a 14-14 record, which includes a 2-1 record during its current stretch of home games. MCC is 2-7 against Region 9 opponents and 0-2 in the South Division.

MCC is led offensively by Megan Orth and Ryan Maddear, who have 243 and 226 kills, respectively. Ty Johnson is third in terminations with 179, while Dylann Bylund (161) and Tristen Trampe (121) have also eclipsed the 100-kill mark.

At the net, Trampe and Maddear lead the team with 52 and 51 blocks, respectively.

Dylann Bylund continues her strong run at setter, as she leads the team with 484 assists. Freshman Ashley Carson has chipped in 269 helpers.

As a team, MCC is hitting .148 while its opponents are averaging .205.

Scouting Northeastern Junior College

MCC hosts Region 9 opponent Northeastern Junior College tonight with first serve set for 7 p.m. The Plainswomen travel to McCook with a 14-6 record and have won two straight and seven of their last nine matches.

NJC is led by Sara Antic, who has 275 kills and averages 3.82 terminations per set. The Plainswomen have one Nebraska native on the roster with Kacey Jaeger. The former Ogallala Lady Indian is fourth on the team with 149 kills this season.

NJC is outhitting its opponents by an average of .232 to .172.

Scouting Southeast Community College

On Thursday, MCC will take on in-state rival SCC at 5 p.m. The Lady Indians and Storm met up in Beatrice on Sept. 5, with MCC taking a 3-2 decision.

SCC is currently 7-18 on the season. After a 4-4 start, the Storm have gone 3-14 in their last 17 matches.

Stevie Tobin leads the Storm offense with 261 kills and is hitting .234 on the year. Madison Biesecker is the only other SCC player with over 100 kills and is currently at 166 terminations.
