NORTH PLATTE, Neb.— Raymond Lester Klein, 83, of Trenton, Neb., formerly of Bartley, Neb., died Aug. 28, 2017, at Great Plains Health in North Platte.

He was born in Farnam, Neb., son of Louis and Nona (Hayworth) Klein.

Raymond married Arlene Toberer on Aug. 25, 1951. To this union five children were born: Gary, Rod, Brent, Carla and Jeff. He farmed and ranched in the Farnam area and sold seed for NC+ seed company for many years. In the early 1990s, he moved to Bartley and worked at the UAP fertilizer plant, where he sprayed for clients all over the area. Raymond enjoyed hunting and trapshooting, going snowmobiling, heading to the mountains and playing cards. He loved his horses and cattle.

Surviving are sons, Gary (Dianne) Klein of Farnam, Rod (Marla) Klein of Farnam, Brent (Bev) Klein of McCook, Neb., and Jeff (Dee) Klein of Maywood, Neb.; daughter, Carla (Tony) Boots of North Platte, 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren; aunt, Darlene Klooz; along with many friends and extended family.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ruth Klein; brothers, Russel and Ross Klein; grandson, Tony Klein; and great-granddaughter, Aubrey Ann Klein.

Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Neb., today, Aug. 30, 2017, until 8 p.m., with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m

Funeral services will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, at 2 p.m. with Greg Boller officiating. Interment will follow in the Farnam Cemetery in Farnam.
