CAMBRIDGE, Neb. – The McCook Bison golfers totaled 201 for a 35-stroke win over three other area teams in Thursday’s Cambridge Quad at Cross Creeks.

Seniors Cassidy Redl (45), Holly Grigg (48) and Holland Stagemeyer (50) shot three of the four lowest scores for this nine-hole season opener.

Lexington’s Brookie Speer tied Grigg for second overall with 48.

Cambridge delivered the best team challenge for McCook by totaling 236 — 10 strokes lower than Class B Lex (246).

Lexi Sines’ 55 led the Trojans while Taylor Sayer followed at 59.

Ryann Lewis, Karinne Jurey and Maria Jauken each fired 61s to complete that Cambridge team total.

McCook separated from the pack with a stellar effort on Hole No. 7.

Redl, Stagemeyer and Grigg all needed just three strokes to finish while senior Kaylee Hauxwell scored a four. Hauxwell’s 58 tied for sixth place overall in this quadrangular.

No golfer from the other three teams could finish Hole No. 7 in less tahn four. Some needed five, six or even eight strokes.

Jami White’s 58 was the next Lexington score.

Dundy County-Stratton did not record a team score as only one Tiger competed.

However, Madison Haines did reach the top five with her round of 55.

McCook moves on to play its first 18-hole tournament of the season at Tuesday’s Sidney Invitational.

The Bison are aiming to make another Class B state team appearance after taking second one year ago.

Opening tee times are scheduled at 9 a.m. MDT.

The McCook Invitational will take place Friday (9 a.m. start) at Heritage Hills.
