KEARNEY, Neb. — Dorothy Elizabeth (Hansen) Fiene, 79, died Sunday (July 23, 2017) at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Neb.

She was born April 24, 1938, to Otto Herbert Hansen and Elizabeth (DeBoer) Hansen in Elwood, Neb. She graduated high school in 1955. She graduated from Bonnell Beauty Academy in Hastings, Neb., with a degree in cosmetology.

She married Ernest E. Fiene, Jr. on June 16, 1957 in Elwood.

She opened a beauty salon in Elwood until 1970 and later worked with Brell Real Estate. With friends she operated the Gingerbread Shoppe in Elwood and after that, a gift shop, Tres Chic.

She was a member of the Elwood Arts Council, Chamber of Commerce, LWML/Ladies Aid and Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Howard Hansen and Lowell Hansen; brothesr-in-law, Donald Fiene, Eldon Fiene, Carroll Schroeder, Bill Debban, Glen Davis, and Dan McGrath; sisters-in-law,Winnie Hansen, Inez Hansen, Leoda Davis, Deloris McGrath, and Louise Fiene.

Survivors include her husband, Ernie Fiene, Jr. of Johnson Lake, Neb.; children, Shannon Williams of Lincoln, Neb., Sue Greg) Bruening of Omaha, Neb., and Jonathan (Dixie Carr) Fiene of Elwood; sisters: Althea Schroeder and Lola Debban; brother: Donald Hansen; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Frost, Carleen Fiene and Hilda Hansen; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services are Friday, July 28, 2017, 10 a.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elwood with Rev. Michael Wolff officiating. Interment is at Elwood Cemetery.

There is no viewing or visitation. Memorials may be given to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or in her name to be designated later.
