It was oppressive outside, but inside it's cool — cool country with a touch of rock-and-roll by a mother-daughter duo from Omaha called “Belles & Whistles.” Kelli Jones, above, and her mother, Jaymie, sing a lot of their own songs, including “Fire,” and then grab a bit from the past — the Beatles' “Get Back.” Behind Kelli and Jaymie is drummer, Jeff Kolega, Belles & Whistles performed during the Coyote Country/Longnecker Jewelry Country Music Showdown Wednesday evening during the Red Willow County Fair in McCook.
