GERING, Neb. -- McCook High's girls led streaking Gering for better than a half before the Bulldogs rallied to win 48-39.

"That was a really good defensive effort," coach Scott Leisy said on his radio interview after the game. "We forced them into some bad shots, some tough shots and that goes to our defense. The kind of defense that can get you to Lincon (for the state tournament)."

Leisy continued praising his team's effort as they led 23-22 going into halftime.

Junior Emily Arp was starting a strong 10-point effort while senior Faith Hansen added eight to follow her 17 points vs. Scottsbluff Thursday night.

Junior Brantleigh Morgan's jumper gave the Bison (6-15 record) one more lead at 31-29 before Gering took charge en route to its sixth consecutive win.

"Put the records asdie. We just played the No. 2 (district) seed to a two-score game, you don't think we can win the district? We can."

Juniors Erika Fisher (seven) and Holly Grigg (six) teamed for another 13 points. The Bison dropped their East-West Shootout finale at Alliance Saturday.
