Tigers win again, Wolves surprise Broncos

Friday was a busy night for girls area basketball.

Tigers stay

unbeaten

Southern Valley played Dundy County-Stratton.

Final score was 71-48 with Dundy County in the lead.

Kami Porter, a sophomore at Dundy County scored 25 points in Fridays game. She made four three-pointers, four two-pointers and five free throws.

Just behind Porter, senior Aubrey Frederick scored 18 points with seven two-pointers and four free throws.

Sophomore Grace Frederick also scored 10 points on five two-pointers.

Vikings vanquish

BERTRAND, Neb. -- Bertrand started the first quarter off strong and beat Arapahoe 56-31.

Arapahoe's freshman Terri Hilker scored 8 points withone three-pointer, two two-pointers and one free throw.

Mariah Watson, sophomore, made 7 points, two two-pointers, and three free throws. Junior Nevada Gardner scored 6 points with three two-pointers.

Senior Brielle Weverka also scored five points with one three-pointer and two free throws.

Wolves win

over Broncos

MAYWOOD, Neb. -- Hayes Center played Wauneta -- Palisade with a score of 59-44. With a strong four quarters, Maywood -- Hayes Center won.

Top scored for Wauneta-Palisade included Reagan Skow, Natalie Ramirez, and Dakota Ingold. Ramirez scored 10 points with Ingold scoring eight.

Wauneta-Palisade had some good rebounds in Friday's game. Destiny Beacham rebounded seven, Skow six, Michalea Dukes three and Ingold three.

Ramirez and Skow also had three steals.

Wauneta- Palisade coach Matt Cox commented:

"I was very proud of our effort and the confidence we showed, despite being short handed, we took good shots, they just wouldn't fall at times. The thing that hurt us the most was our transition defense. We will have to get that fixed before sub-districts next week."

MH-C also had top scores from Sydney Mullen-Shaw with 19 points, Grace Koubek with 13 and Jaycee Lapp with 12.

Trojans trounce

Cardinals

ALMA, Neb. -- Playing strong all four quarters, Cambridge beat Alma, 62-39.

Cambridge scored 18 points the first quarter, 17 in the second, 18 in the thirdand 9 in the fourth. Cambridge Trojans now hold a 17-3 record.

On Tuesday they will play Southern Valleyfor a C2 subdistrict 11 contest. Southern Valley gave Cambridge a 44-42 defeat in December.

Brady's bunch

downs Raiders

CURTIS, Neb. -- Brady beat Medicine Valley 59-29. In the first quarter, Brady scored 22 points, followed by 14 in the second.

Senior Tara Callahan scored a total of 25 points within the game, one three-pointer and 11 two-pointers.

Also a senior, Hannah DeStefano scored 9 points with three three-pointers. Senior Karnee Hatch made 8 points on four two-pointers.

Medicine Valley senior Skyler Sandoe scored 14 points with six two-pointers and two free throws. Junior Haylee Evans scored 6 points, two two-pointers and two free throws.

SW girls triumph

PAXTON, Neb. -- Southwest beat Paxton 38-22, scoring 13 points in the first quarter.

Paxton's senior Taylor Dack, scored 6 points and three two-pointers.

Senior Darby O'Connor and sophomore TJ Baney both scored 5 points on two two-pointers and one free throw.

Juniors Callie Kriha and Taylor Mullen-Beck both scored 2 points, along with freshman Daphne Baney.

Indians outscore

Red Devil girls

OBERLIN, Kan. -- The Decatur Community Red Devils played Saint Francis.

All quarters were close but the Indians won 44-32.

Decatur unior Brittney Wesley scored 10 points, four two-pointers, and two free throws.

Also scoring 10 points was freshman Alyssa Van Vlee on five two-pointers.

Freshman Amy Wentz scored 5 points thanks one three-pointer and one two-pointer.

Quinter stops

Buffaloes

QUINTER, Kan. -- Quinter beat Rawlins County 57-40. Quinter scored over 10 points in each quarter.

Kylie Crist scored a total of 21 points thanks to two two-pointers, four three-pointers and five free throws.

Rebekah Kitch scored 15 points, with five two-pointers and five free throws. Sarah Bird scored 7 points, with three two-pointers and one free throw.

Peyton Havlas also scored 7 points, with three two-pointers and one free throw.

Rawlins County's Amy Crouse scored 12 points on three two-pointers, one three-pointer, and tree free throws. Abigael Horton scored 8 points, three two-pointers and two free throws.

Kristen Beckman scored 7 points on two two-pointers and three free throws. Angie Singhateh scored 6 points with three two-pointers.

Wildcats win

at Bartley

BARTLEY, Neb. -- ON Saturday, Axtell beat Southwest 60-20, scoring 19 points in the first quarter and 27 in the second.

Axtell's Paige Kirby scored 14 points, four three-pointers and one two-pointer.
