Lyle G. Stroup

Aug. 3, 1944 - Jan. 27, 2017

BENKELMAN, Neb. -- Lyle G. Stroup would like to let you know that his work here is done. He received a call, a sort of an offer you can't refuse, for an appointment from which he will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends he has not seen in a long time. Job security is exactly 110 percent. His new mission takes him to a wonderful place where he will be socializing, dancing, card playing, and reading to his heart's content. Music, laughter and love are guaranteed. Food is delicious and you never gain an ounce.

Lyle is preceded in death by his loving wife, Sher; his father, Harold; and nephews, Kevin and Heath.

Survivors include children, Jaime (Dana) Baggs of Denver, Jeff (Diane) Ham of Seattle, Wash., and Jodi Custer and Shelley Leitner of Omaha; his mother, Bertie Stroup of Benkelman; sisters, Virginia (Elwin) Jensen of Graford, Texas and Cindy Swigert of Benkelman; three grandchildren, (Courtney, Bryce and AJ); numerous nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.

A Celebration of Life is tentatively scheduled for March 18, 2017, in Benkelman.

Memorial donations may be made in Lyle's name to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, PO Box 97075, Washington, DC 20077-7258.
