OBERLIN, Kan. -- Glen Elden Baughman of Oberlin, Kan., passed away on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Society -- Decatur County Nursing Home in Oberlin. He was 86 years old.

Glen was born on Sept. 13, 1930, at Caldwell, Kan., to parents, Ruby Oral and Ethel Rueann (McDannald) Baughman. He attended school in Deerfield, Kan.
Glen enlisted in the U.S. Army on April 12, 1951, and served his country during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on March 12, 1953.
On Jan. 6, 1967, he was united in marriage to Darlene Faye Musgrave at McCook, Neb. Glen was employed with Halliburton for 30 years and later employed by Decatur County until he retired.
Glen was a member of the Oberlin American Legion and McCook Eagles. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially time spent at the lake fishing. He loved to play his guitar and sing. Glen treasured his grandchildren and watching them participate in all of their activities. He also enjoyed the visits across the fence with his neighbors.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Ruby and Ethel Baughman; wife, Darlene Baughman on Oct. 20, 2011; and one sister, Daisy Martin.
Survivors include his son, Glen E. Baughman and wife, Georgia, of Culbertson; four step-children, Teresa Kuhlman of McCook, Diana Trout and husband, Paul, of Caldwell, Idaho, Robert Portz of McCook and Richard Portz of Paradise, Texas; sister, Juanita Crotty of Garden City, Kan.; sister-in-law, Dorothy Hejl of Oaklawn, Ill.; brother-in-law, Dale Musgrave and wife, Elizabeth of Hastings; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Memorials may be given in his name.
Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017, at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Funeral service will be Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at Herrmann-Jones Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m., with Pastor Gordon A. Pettibone officiating. Burial will be in the Oberlin Cemetery following the service.
