McCOOK, Neb. -- Progressing rapidly within the company, James Thompson has advanced from the Orscheln's store in Maryville, Mo. to managerial roles in Gothenburg and McCook in a three-year time period.

Thompson, who was born in Texas and raised in Missouri, is finding Western Nebraska to his liking. "I appreciate the warm welcome I have received in McCook and look forward to growing in the community and growing Orscheln's farm and home business in the vast Golden Plains of America," Thompson said.

As manager, James takes the place of Chad Arasmith, who has transferred to Orscheln's store in Manhattan, Kan.

"This is a good store and I am privileged to have a great staff already in place," Thompson said of the McCook store and strafe. With the help of the experienced staff of 25 employees, the new manager says the McCook Orscheln's store is well prepared to fulfill the store's mission, which is to provide "Answers and Low Prices Down Every Aisle."

Founded in Moberly, Mo. by Barry Orscheln, the farm and home group has grown to 170 stores in eight states: Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Arkansas, Iowa, Indiana, Kentucky and Oklahoma.

The full-line farm and home stores are well-stocked, with the many shopping options including everything from hardware ... to clothing ... to pet supplies ... to tires and auto accessories ... to farm utensils and equipment ... and to just about anything, and everything else ... that farm families and homeowners need for daily living.

Thompson spent his high school years in Maryville, Mo., graduating from high school there in 1998. After 15 years in the restaurant business, James joined Orscheln's in Maryville, advancing quickly up the ranks to management responsibility.

Like many Orscheln's customers, James enjoys country living, commuting each day to McCook from his place in Frontier County. In those rare times when Thompson takes an afternoon or weekend off, he enjoys outdoor sports, including hunting, fishing and golf.

Open seven days a week to serve the needs of their farm and home customers, the McCook Orscheln store's hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

The McCook Orscheln store is located at 1602 North Highway 83. With a large store and a spacious lot for parking and displays, the McCook Orscheln store is currently in the midst of a Sidewalk Sale, with special clearance prices on patio furniture and a wide range of close-out clothing items.
