McCOOK, Neb. -- Diane Marie Watkins, age 62, passed away, Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, at Hillcrest Nursing Home.

Diane was born Oct. 31, 1953, to Wayne and Roberta (Kircher) Carlson in McCook. She graduated from Republican Valley High School in 1972, later attended McCook Community College and earned an associate of arts degree in 1977.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Diane was an avid reader. She also enjoyed gardening, needlework, cooking and gathering with friends and neighbors.

Survivors include her daughter, Stacey (James) Moreland of Waldorf, Md., and their children, Kaitlyn, Kourtney and Tyler; step-father, Vernon Hanson of Curtis; and brothers, Dallas (Kelley) Watkins of Kearney, Dennis (Laura) Watkins of Roundrock, Texas, and Donald Watkins of San Antonio, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne; adopted father, Rod Watkins; and mother, Roberta.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with Father Gary Brethour officiating. Private family inurnment will be at a later date.

Memorials may be given in her name to domesticshelters.org. Funds will be used at a local women's shelter.
