STRATTON, Neb. -- Richard A. Voss, age 74, of Stratton, passed away Friday, Jan. 1, 2016, at Community Hospital in McCook.

Richard was born to Andrew K. Voss and Freda Husmann on Feb. 23, 1941, in Ellsworth, Minnesota. He grew up on a farm in Lyons County, Iowa.

He married Jane Woodworth on Aug. 12, 1960, on the family farm in Lyons County, Iowa.

Richard worked as a master mechanic and was a member of the Central States Union. He enjoyed hunting, traveling, 4-wheeling in the mountains and building engines. He was always available to come to the aid of anyone that needed help.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Klaas Voss; and son, Donald Voss.

Richard is survived by his wife, Jane Voss of Stratton; son, Eric (Ja Doi) Voss of Denver, Colorado; foster son, Tom Meisner of Minnesota; daughters, Nadine (Spencer) Perkins of Denver, Colorado, Zandra (Greg) Wagner of Trenton, Nebraska, and Kay Voss of Denver; sisters, Janie Voss of George, Iowa, Mabel (Larry) Tieszen of Brandon, South Dakota, and Freda (John) Rasko of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, from 4-6 p.m. at Stratton United Methodist Church with the family greeting from 6-8 p.m.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, at Stratton United Methodist Church with Pastor Kevin Fink and Pastor Alisa Parde officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Stratton.
